A 10-minute standstills program was held on the right bank of Teesta River in Lalmonirhat district from 11 am to 11.10 am on Wednesday organized by Save Teesta, Save River River Sangram Parishad to implement 6-point demands including Teesta master plan and Teesta water agreement.
Lalmonirhat District President of the organization, guerrilla leader and freedom fighter Dr. SM Shafiqul Islam Kanu presided over the program while freedom fighter Mustafizur Rahman Babu, playwright MakhanLal Das, former UP member of Gokunda Union ZahurulHaque, young social worker MridulHabib and others spoke.
In the ten-minute standstill, people on both sides of the Teesta gave up their normal activities and stood in their respective areas to support the demand.
