Former polytechnic teacher Mahmudunnabi Biplob, a resident of Bogra, has developed an equipment capable of producing 10 liters of oxygen per minute.
This oxygen concentrator can also supply oxygen to more than one patient at a time.
As Covid-19 cases are continuing to surge, health facilities in different hospitals of the country are grappling with an acute crisis of oxygen due to the rise of enormous patients. Besides, Bangladesh on Wednesday recorded 201 more coronavirus deaths, the highest daily casualty toll since the start of the pandemic. During this difficult time in corona, Biplob invented such Oxygen concentrator.
According to sources, it is possible to produce at least 10 liters per minute and 600 liters per hour and providing oxygen to one more patients with multiple respiratory problems at the same time.
Earlier, the concentrator was displayed at the a2i innovation laboratory in June. Later, the organizers of the exhibition lauded the innovation.
In this regard, Biplob said, people are suffering a lot from corona infection due to the acute crisis of oxygen. Considering this, I started working on making oxygen concentrator, and at one point I have been successful. I named it KR Oxygen Concentrator. It took about 1 month.
The cost is only 70 thousand Taka. It will cost only Tk three per hour to generate 600 liters of oxygen. Accordingly, it will cost 0.005 paisa per liter.
Biplob is optimistic that the concentrator will play an important role in treatment of the Covid-19 patients in this crisis moment.
Mahmudunnabi Biplob’s home is at Padmapara village under Gabtali upazila of Bogra. It is learned that he completed his diploma course in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (Power) from Bogra Polytechnic Institute in 1994. He joined as teacher in the Bogra Polytechnic Institute in 1996. He taught there till 2002.
Biplob has already made a number of instruments and garnered huge praises. The devices he invented include ‘DC ventilation systems’ instead of energy efficient ACs, pre-flood warning devices, ‘Baby Urine alarm beds’, ‘Saline alarm systems’ to push the patient’s body, ‘Water aeronautics’ to supply oxygen to the water for aquatic animals and an automatic Hand Exercise using for paralyzed patients.
In this regard, Mahmudunnabi Biplob said, the device is capable of producing 95 to 98 percent pure oxygen from the air. His device is made of several components. At first it adopts natural air to generate oxygen. The device then separates nitrogen and oxygen from the air with the help of a monitoring system. After mixing nitrogen, it collects oxygen by releasing it into the air. Finally oxygen is generated in this way. Later that oxygen can be used, he added.
He said, he wants to work for the welfare of the country and the people with his innovative ability. That is why he wants government patronage.
Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Assistant Professor (Forensic Medicine) and Head of the Department Md. Mizanur Rahman said, I saw the oxygen concentrator device invented by Mahmudunnabi Biplob. The device will actually be very effective in supplying oxygen to the patients.
If a person’s oxygen saturation comes close to 90 or below 95, oxygen is needed for him.
