At least ten persons were killed and five others injured in separate road accidents in Bogura, Gopalganj and Naogaon district on Wednesday.
Of the deceased, five were killed in Bogura, three in Gopalganj and two in Naogaon.
In Bogura, a truck hit a human hauler on the Bogura-Natore highway in Shajahanpur upazila around 9:30 pm in front of Birgram Agricultural University, said Kajol Komar Nundi,
Sub-Inspector of Kundarhat highway police outpost. Two persons died instantly, but three others succumbed to their injures at Bogura Medical College and Hospital.
The identity of the deceased could not be known instantly.
Additional Superintendent of Police of the district Sanatan Chakraborty confirmed the accident news to Media.
In Gopalganj, A woman, her daughter and grand daughter were killed when a truck rammed an auto-rickshaw in the Majhigati bus stand area of Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Selina Begum, 48, wife of one Hafizur Rahman of Joynagar village of the upazila, her daughter Ekamoni and Ekamoni’s daughter Maisha, 3. Selina Begum was the head teacher of a Government Primary School.
Md Azizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Kashiani Police station (OC) said Selina and her family members were heading to a nearby Parulia village by an auto-rickshaw. In the meantime, a truck hit the auto-rickshaw after the truck driver lost control over steering. Selina died on the spot while Ekamoni and Maisha were critically injured and died later on way to hospital.
In Naogaon, two motorcyclists were killed when a truck ran the motorcycle at Komaigari near the Naogaon Bypass Road of the district on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Shoyeb, 28, son of one Abdur Razzak of Daptaripara of Naogaon city, and Anik, 27, son of one Rezaunnabi of the same area. Anwar Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Naogaon Sadar Police Station told the media that the accident took place around 1:00pm when the truck rammed the motorbike killing both riders dead on the spot. On information, police recovered the bodies and sent them to Naogaon sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
