10 killed in lightning strikes in three districts

At least 10 people were killed in lightning strikes in three districts on Friday.
In Mymensingh alone, six people, including three children, were killed in lightning strikes in two upazilas of the district on Friday afternoon.
The victims were identified as Abu Bakr, 40, and Zahangir Alam, 30, residents of Dori Kushtia village in Sadar upazila, and Sayeed Mia, 12, son of one Shahidullah, Swadhin Mia, 11, son of one Hadis Mia, and Shawon, 8, from Kankerhati village in Nandail upazila.
Shah Kamal Akanda, Officer in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station, confirmed that two farmers were killed in the lightning strike.
Md Golap Hossain, the member of Gangail union under Nandail upazila, said thunderbolts hit three children around 2 pm when they went to a field to catch fish.
Among them, two were rushed to Nandail Upazila Health Complex and another to Kishoreganj Sadar Hospital. Later, on-duty doctors at the facilities declared the trio dead.
In Sirajganj, three people were killed and four others were injured after lightning hit them. The deceased were
identified as Abdur Razzak Munshi (45), Md Nasir (30) and Durga Choron (50), reports our Pabna correspondent quoting Md Abdur Rahim, inspector of District Special Branch (DSB).
In Lalmonirhat, one was killed by lightening strike at Sheikh Shundar village in Hatibandha Upazila of the district on Friday (June 17).
The deceased was identified as Abdul Matin, 46, hailed from the village.
Local people said that He died on the spot as the thunderbolt struck the man at around 9:30 pm when he went out for fishing along with a group of villagers..
Officer-in-Charge of Hatibandha Thana Ashraful Alam confirmed the matter.
