At least 10 people were killed in three districts on Sunday when nor’wester and rain swept over different regions of the country. Seven of the deceased are from Gaibandha, two from Faridpur and one from Kushtia.
In Gaibandha, seven people including three women and a child died as they were crushed under collapsed tree and house due to the stormy wind.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Goffar, and Jahanara Begum of Palashbari Upazila, Shimuli Akter and Haris Uddin from Fulchhari, Moyna from Sundorganj, Abdus Salam Sarder from Sadullahpur, and Monir Miah from Sadar Upazila.
In Faridpur, a mother and her four months old daughter were killed as a tree branch collapsed on them. The deceased were identified as Halima, wife Md Jahid of Bajitpur village of Modhukhali Upazila, and their daughter Afsana.
Meanwhile, an onion trader named Rabiul Islam was killed after being hit by the roof of an under-construction shop in Kushtia’s Bheramara Upazila. He is the son of Saad Mandal of Shashidharpur in Hogalbaria union of Daulatpur Upazila.
