Police detained 10 leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) from in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Friday.
Witnesses said, a team of Shahbagh Police Station picked up the JCD men around 9:30am when they went there to attend a scheduled protest rally at the hall room of the Jatiya Press Club. JCD, the student wing of BNP, organised the programme protesting the arrest of its president Rajib Ahsan who was arrested by Dumki thana police in Patuakhali on July 20. Contacted, officer-in-charge of Shahbagh police station AB Siddique said police detained the JCD leaders and activists following information that they are accused in cases filed with different police stations. “We’ve already sent messages to their respective police stations in this regard. After scrutinising the information, we’ll take next step,” the OC added.
