At least 10 people were injured in a factional clash of Sylhet city unit Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), a student wing of the BNP, in Chouhatta area of the city Friday.
Witnesses said a procession under the banners of Ilias Ali Mukti Sangram Parishad and others wing organsations of Sylhet BNP, led by JCD Sylhet city unit General Secretary Abu Saleh Md Lukman, was brought out from Zindabazar area of the city yesterday afternoon, demanding rescue of the missing central BNP organising secretary, M Ilias Ali When the procession reached at Chouhatta point, the activists of a rival group of JCD city unit, led by Rezaul Karim Nachon, Mahbubul Haque Chowdhury and Safiq Mahmud, attacked the procession. Ten people of both groups were injured in the clash. Among them, an activist named Jahirul Haque was critically injured. Five motorcycles were also set ablaze during the clash.
