UNB, Rangpur :At least 10 people were injured when two factions of Jubo League clashed in Kaunia upazila of the district onSaturday night.Following the clash, police conducted drives in different areas of the upazila and detained 17 people.Police and locals said there had been a longstanding rivalry between Yousuf group and Dildar group of the ruling Awami League’s youth wing over establishing supremacy in the upazila headquarters.As sequel of the conflict, the two groups, equipped with lethal weapons, sticks and brickbats, attacked and chased each other at the Kaunia Bazar around 11pm on Saturday, leaving 10 people from both sides injured.On information, police rushed in and charged baton on the feuding groups to bring the situation under control.The officer-in-charge of Kaunia Police Station confirmed the incident, saying a case has been filed against 17 people in this connection.
