At least 10 people including policemen were injured during clashes between two rival groups of Jubo League ( JL) at Sarail upazila in Brahmanbaria district on Wednesday.
The clashes took place when the rival groups went to atten the 48th founding anniversary programme of Jubo League at Uchaliapara area under the upazila early Wednesday morning.
Witnesses said followers of District Council member and Jubo League leader Payel Hossain Mridha were going to join the founding anniversary function. At that time, one of them was pushed by the followers of Jubo League leader Belayet Hossain Millat at Gorur Bazar area under the upazila sadar. They locked in an altercation over the matter. Later, being divided into two groups, the followers got involved in clashes at Sarail Pilot High School premises with home-made weapons. During the hour-long clashes, ten people including two policemen were injured.
The injured were given treatment at the upazila health complex and other local clinics.
Confirming the matter, additional police super Rais Uddin said the situation was under control.
