10 indicted over attack on Shia Muslims in city

The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka on Wednesday framed charges against 10 members of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in the case filed about the bomb blast at Hussaini Dalan in old Dhaka in 2015.
Later, Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of the court set June 16 for the formal trial to begin with the deposition of witnesses and shifted the case to
an Additional Metropolitan Session’s Judge Court.
The accused persons are: Kabir Hossain alias Rashed, Masud Rana, Abu Sayeed Solaiman alias Salman, Rubel Islam alias Sajib, Arman, Jahid Hasan alias Rana, Md Shahjalal, Omar Faruk, Hafez Ahsanullah Mahmud and Chan Mia. Of the accused, the first six are now behind the bar while the four others are on bail.
On October 18, last year, Inspector Shafi Uddin Sheikh of the Detective Branch submitted the charge sheet to the court against the accused.
The case docket says that accused Arman, Zahid, Rubel and Kabir made confession in a court admitting their involvement in the blast Under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. They allegedly planned to attack a meeting on October 10, 2015. Later, Ashik, Rubel, Masud, Hiron and Solaiman visited the spot and its nearby area on October 16, said the charge sheet.
Masud along with his accomplice rented a house near the Hussaini Dalan as per their plan. Two persons were killed and 100 others injured in the bomb explosion at the Shia Muslim community’s headquarters, Hussaini Dalan, in the old part of Dhaka city on October 23, 2015.
