Rasel alias Sujon, who died at Jashore Child Development Centre yesterday, claimed that it was not a clash. The families have alleged that their children were murdered by the authorities of the correction centre.
Subeda Bibi (60), Rasel’s mother said her son was serving his time for what his crimes in the past. “But why did the people in the correction centre kill my son?” she asked. She also said her son was taken to hospital at 8:30pm even though the incident took place at 2:00pm.
Rasel’s sister-in-law Fahima Akter Tania said Rasel had secured bail from the court last Thursday and was set to be released from the correction centre coming Sunday.
On October 10, 2015, a case was filed against Rasel and some of his friends for raping his cousin. He received 25 years imprisonment for the crime.
Following the verdict, he was sent to Jashore Child Development Centre as he was under 18 back then.
Another deceased Abu Naeem’s mother Shantana Begum (45) also alleged they heard there was no clash at the correction centre.
“The authorities of the correction centre killed my son and later staged a drama of clash,” she said.
Naeem was a charge-sheeted accused of a rape and murder case filed with Shibganj Police Station and kept at the correction centre because he was under 18years.
Police have taken 10 people including Ansar members into custody in connection with the killings, Touhidul Islam, additional superintendent of police of District Special Branch (Jashore), said without disclosing their identities.
The injured teenagers, who were admitted to the hospital after the incident, claimed that officers and Ansar members of the correction centre were directly involved in the killings. Police have said steps will be taken after investigation.
Families of the deceased demanded fair investigation into the incident and capital punishment of those involved in the incident.
Yesterday, the authorities of the correction centre claimed that a clash ensued at the centre between two youth groups where three teenagers were killed and 15 others suffered injuries.
