At least 10 persons including two BCL leadrs were killed in several road accidents across the country on Tuesday and Wednesday.
In Bagerhat at least four persons were killed and four others injured in two separate road crashes in the district during last two days.
At Rampal a stone-laden truck smashed into a stationed brick-laden truck in Rampal upazila of Bagerhat, killing three persons including a driver and a helper on the spot on Tuesday.
The accident happened in front of Rampal Power Plant around 1:45 pm.
The deceased are yet to be identified.
An injured person was taken to upazila health complex, said Md. Tuhin Hawlader, officer-in-charge (OC) of Rampal police station.
Meanwhile, a teenager was killed and two others seriously injured when a pickup van rammed them at Chorongi Intersection under Mollarhat of the district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ali, son of one Jakir Sarder from Udaypur village.
Jogganath Chandro , Officer-in-Charge of Mollarhat confirmed the news to the media.
In Munshiganj, at least two persons were killed and seventeen others injured in a road accident in Gazaria Upazila of Munshiganj on Tuesday.
The accident happened on Dhaka-Chattogram highway around 3 pm. The injured are having treatment at Gazaria Upazila Health Complex. A Chattogram-bound bus smashed into a covered van, killing two passengers on the spot, Bhaberchar highway police outpost in-charge Md. Kabir Hossain told.
According to Gazaria Upazila Health Complex, 2 passengers out of 19 were killed. 2 injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The rest are receiving treatment at health complex.
In Chattogram, two persons, including a leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), were killed and 12 others injured in a road accident in Mirsarai upazila on Tuesday night. The deceased were identified as Mosharraf Hossain Milon, 23, Cultural Affairs Secretary of Chhatra League’s Mirsarai upazila unit and son of one Shafiul Alam of Zafrabad village; and Mohammad Alauddin, 60, of Uttar Mandarbaria village. The accident took place around 10pm on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway near the Jamaler Dokan area.
“A pick-up carrying passengers plunged into a roadside ditch after being hit by a speedy truck,” said Jashim Uddin, Assistant Director of Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defense. In Satkhira, a Jubo League activist was killed and two others were injured when a motorcycle hit a human hauler in Shyamnagar upazila on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Mostafizur Rahman, 24, an activist of Nurnagar union unit Jubo League and son of Abu Musa of the upazila.
Nurul Huda, Officer-in-Charge of Shyamnagar Police Station, said a motorbike carrying Mostafizur and two others collided with a human hauler around 10:30pm.
The three bikers, injured in the accident and were taken to a local hospital where doctors pronounced Mostafizur dead.
In Khulna, an youth named Imran Mondal,20, was killed when a truck hit his bike in Choknagar area under Domoria upazila of the district on Wednesday.
