Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested 10 human traffickers from the office of Victoria Crockeries BD Limited in city’s Mirpur area on Tuesday afternoon.
Of them, four were identified as Hazrat Ali, Chairman of Victoria Crockeries, its Directors Anwar Hossain, Moshiur Rahman and Syed Ali.
They also rescued 130 victims from the office during the drive, RAB officials said.
RAB-2 Operation Officer Kawsar Ahmed said, “A team of the elite force conducted a drive in Victoria Crockeries BD Limited on the fourth floor of Amena Plaza, House No. 37, Mirpur Section-6 near SA Paribahan Goli at around 3:30pm and arrested the traffickers.”
The RAB team also rescued 130 victims from the office as per their information, the RAB official said.
The members of the elite force arrested the miscreants on charge of trafficking people and extortion after illegal confinement, he said.
“They also admitted in primary interrogation that they are involved in international human trafficking for a long time, he said.
The arrested men are being interrogated in this connection, the RAB official said. He also said the criminals aloof the people to send them abroad and took huge money.
The traffickers would have to face legal actions for committing the crimes, he added.
