A court in Kishoreganj on Monday sentenced 10 men to life -term in jail in a case filed for killing a man in 2011.
The convicted named Badal, Nayan, Manik, Lokman, Sabuj, Alamgir, Mizan, Giasuddin, Mamun Miah and Rahmat Ali.
They all hail from Paloikandha village of Karimganj upazila. The court also fined them Taka 5 lakh each.
On case story, Abdul Hekim, a villager of Paloikandha had long been at loggerhead with his co-village Abdur Rashid over land dispute.
As a sequel to the conflict Abdul Hakim’s associats equiped with country made arms attacked Rashid and his supporters of rivals critically injured.
Later, the victim’s brother named Khairul lodged a case field with Karimganj Police Station in this connection.
Additional District Judge Court No.- 1 Judge Md. Abdur Rahim delivered the verdict at Monday noon after examination the records and witnesses.
There men including women,minor drowned
At least there persons including women and minor drowned as an overcrowded trawler capsized in Itna haor Upazila of kishoreganj Saturday afternoon.
The trawler sank in Borshikura Ghat Part of Itna haor Upazila.
The victim were identified as yesmin Akhter (32) wife of Babul Miah and her son yeasin(7) at village shimla in Itna and asia khatun(60) wife of jobber Hossion at Raythatuti village in Itna Upazila. Itna Police station officer -in- charge (OC) Morsheduzzaman told the New Nation conformed the matter.
