At least 10 dwelling houses were gutted in a devastating fire at Shamsherpara area under Chandgaon thana in the city and in the early hours of Friday.
Fire service sources said, the fire originated from an electric short circuit at around 2-35am and quickly engulfed the surrounding houses.
Four units of fire service from Chandanpura and Khalurghat fire service station rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control at about 4-45am, said fire service sources. Properties of 10 dwelling houses worth about TK. five lakh were gutted in the fire, the sources added.
