10 DU students get NEF scholarship

Ten students of Dhaka University (DU) were awarded Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF) scholarship of Japan, for their outstanding academic results.
DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique on Monday distributed the awards among the students as the chief guest at a function held at the lounge adjacent to the VC’s office on the campus here, said a DU press release. Dr. Arefin Siddique said we want to produce morally developed graduates along with their academic excellence. He urged the students to equip themselves with moral values to make a peaceful Bangladesh.
Referring friendly relationship between Bangladesh and Japan, Prof Arefin called upon the students to play a catalyst role for strengthening these ties between two countries.
Dean of Biological Sciences faculty Prof Dr. M. Imdadul Hoque, Dean of Earth and Environmental Sciences faculty Prof Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal, Coordinator of NEF Scholarship program Prof Dr. Mohammad Zabed Hossain and Chairmen of different departments of the university attended the occasion, among others.
Recipient of scholarship are Raihan Hossain of Oceanography department, Nilufa Yasmin of Fisheries department, Md. Maruf Hossain and Farin Ahmed Meem of Botany department, Md. Rana Arafat of Soil, Water and Environment department, Maisha Mahzabin and Sanchita Bhowmick of Zoology department, Sabina Akter of Microbiology department, Umme Habiba Iqbal of Geography and Environment department and Bristi Rani Podder of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology department, the release added.
