Ten students of various departments under the Faculty of Biological Sciences and the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF) of Japan scholarship” for their outstanding academic results.
DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman distributed scholarships among the students as chief guest at a function held on Monday at the VC’s lounge of the university.
Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences Prof. Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal, DU Representative of NEF Scholarship Committee Prof. Dr. Mohammad Zabed Hossain and Chairmen of various departments were present on this occasion.
Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman urged the students to play a pioneering role to create awareness on environment among the people.
“Students have responsibilities to make our environment clean,” the VC added. He also called upon the students to work together for making the society environment friendly.
The recipients of NEF Scholarship are – Tanjima Binte Shoukot, Joy Prakash Nag, Prasenjit Roy (Botany), Tuhin Akter (Zoology), Anindita Biswas, Shanjida Akter (Fisheries), Lamia Tabassum ( Biochemistry and Molecular Biology), Zinnat Sultana Subarna (Microbiology), Tamanna Jahan (Oceanography) and Romana Ibrahim (Disaster Science and Management).
