A ten-day National Cake Festival 2019 began on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the city with a view to popularize different traditional cakes.
Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud inaugurated the festival on Thursday while Academy’s Director General Liakat Ali Lucky presided over the ceremony.
“Different varieties of Pithas are a part of food tradition and food culture of Bangladeshi cuisine. Pitha-lovers can purchase pithas according to their demand as well as enjoy various cultural programmes in this festival,” said the minister.
Shilpakala Academy and Utsab Udjapan Parishad organised the festival which will continue till February 2.
