Police on Thursday arrested 12 persons, including 10 students of Daffodil University, raiding a four-storey building in the city’s Sukrabad area on suspicion of involvement in the militancy.
Police said, Jamiatul Madrassa is also housed in the building. There are also bachelor messes in the building. The students of Daffodil University live in the first and second floor messes.
The raid was conducted particularly at the messes under the supervision of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Tejgaon Zone as a part of ongoing block raid to catch militants in Mohammadpur area.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of DMP [Tejgaon] Aminur Rashid said: “We’ve raided the area as a part of our regular operation. We’ve also seized computer and laptop from the mess.”
The ADC said, after preliminary investigation they have recovered some video footages of a terrorist outfit and photos of Bansher Kella, a facebook page run by activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir.
The arrestees have been sent to custody for further interrogation, said DC of DMP Tejgaon Zone Biplob Kumar Sarkar.
