10 child workers rescued from Sundarbans

A special team of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) of Mongla West Zone today rescued 10 child workers from a ‘Shutki Pally’ (Dry Fish area) at Dublar Char in the Sundarbans. The team also arrested a man in this connection who was collected them from different areas of the country, said a BCG press release here on Saturday.
The rescued child workers are Md Renu Mia, Md Manik Hossain, Md Hridoy, Md Tutul Mia, Md Akter Hossain, Md Al Amin, Md Amir Hossain, Md Rimon, Md Arif and Md Parvez. On a tip-off, a team of the BCG conducted a drive in Dublar Char area under Sharonkhola upazila of the Sundarbans in the early hours of today, said
Abdullah Al Mahmud, lieutenant of Bangladesh Navy and an officer of Detective Branch of Mongla BCG Outpost.
“The team members nabbed Md Nurul Haque alias Ledu Mia, 36, son of late Farid Mia, of Kuchuri village under Bashkhali upazila in Chattogram from there,” he said, adding that the BCG members rescued the child workers from Ledu’s ‘Shutki Pally’ following his confessional statement.
Later, they were handed over to the Sharankhola Police Station.
