A road accident in Saudi Arabia has left 10 Bangladeshi nationals dead, an embassy official in Riyadh has said.
The crash was reported on Sunday from the Jizan province, near the border with Yemen, some 800 kilometres from the port city of Jeddah, said the Bangladesh Embassy’s Second Secretary (Press) Md Fakhrul Islam.
At least 10 others were injured in crash, but their nationalities are yet to be confirmed.
Shahin Shajahan, an expatriate Bangladeshi, told bdnews24.com that his brother Amir Hossain was among those killed and that the all of victims were employees of a Saudi company, Al-Fahd.
A pick-up truck, carrying 20 people, rolled over after a car rammed it from behind. The Riyadh Daily reported the accident occurred on the road between the governorates of Samtah and Al-Hareth.
The Bangladesh Embassy said in a statement that eight
people died on the spot while two other succumbed to their injuries in hospital. The Bangladesh Consulate in Jeddah’s Labour Councillor Aminul Islam told bdnews24.com they had sent officials to the scene after receiving the news.

Faridul Islam, a Bangladeshi national working at Al-Fahd, confirmed the identities of six Bangladeshis killed in the accident. They are Dulal from Sirajganj, Safiqul from Tangail, Matiur Rahman from Narayanganj, Amir Hossain and Hridoy from Narsingdi and Kishoreganj’s Jasim. In a separate incident, another Bangladeshi died in a motorcycle accident on the road from Saudi Arabia’s eastern province of Al-Hasa to the neighbouring country Qatar. Expatriate Bangladeshis said 36-year-old Badol hailed from Tangail.
