Sylhet Correspondent :At least 10 activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were bullet-injured in a clash between its two factions over establishing supremacy in Baluchar area of Sylhet city on Sunday night. Officer-in-Charge of Shah Poran Police Station said Hiran Mahmud Nipu, former president of the district unit of BCL, and its another leader Sayef had long been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the area. As a sequel tothe enmity, supporters of both the groups locked in an altercation at about 10:30 pm in the area. Later, both the groups exchanged fire, leaving 10 BCL activists wounded with bullets. Informed, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The injured were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital. Sylhet Metropolitan Police ADC (Sadar South) Jidan Al Musa said the groups locked into a “gunfight” over establishing supremacy in the area at around 10:30pm Sunday.He said, “on information, police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
