1 killed in Sunamganj clash over land

A man was killed and four others were injured in a clash between two rival groups over a land-related dispute in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj district on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Kamal, 35, a resident of Kuchbari village of the upazila.
Locals said Kamal had been at loggerheads with one Jubed Ali of Mollahpara village over the ownership of a piece of land since long.
The clash ensued following an altercation between supporters of the two over the issue in Mollahpara Bazar around 8:30pm on Tuesday.
At one stage, both groups equipped with home made firearms attacked one another, leaving five people, including Kamal, injured on both sides.
Kamal died on way to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
The other injured-Kawsar, 30, Ful Mia, 26, Masum, 27, and Abul Khayer, 50, — were admitted to Chhatak Upazila Health Complex.
Sunamganj Police Super M Harun-Or-Rashid confirmed the incident and said that police arrested four people for their alleged involvement in the clash.
