Customs Intelligence officials seized 800 grams of gold worth Tk 40 lakh and detained a man at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here on Friday.
The detainee was identified as M Rashed, hailing from Shariatpur. Sources at the airport said Rashed came to Bangladesh from Malaysia by a Malaysian Airlines flight around 12pm.
Tipped off, customs officials challenged him at the green channel and recovered the gold from his waist belt.
