1 held with 3.6kg gold at HSIA

Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday detained a passenger along with 31 gold bars weighing around 3.6 kg. Assistant Commissioner (Customs) Md Al Amin told UNB that the arrested passenger identified as Md Didar, son of Abdul Alam of Keraniganj, landed at the airport by a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Saudi Arabia around 3:05 pm.
When he was crossing the green channel, the customs officials challenged him and recovered the 31 gold bars worth Tk 1.60 crore after searching his language at about 5:30pm, he said. Didar was due to be handed over to Airport Police Station on completion of legal procedures, AC Al Amin added.
