Officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) detained a Biman passenger along with 12 gold bars weighing around 1.395 kg at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday.
However, the CIID did not disclose the name of the detained passenger.
Sources at the CIID said, the detainee boarded a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Chittagong in the morning.
Tipped off, a CIID team
challenged the passenger when he was about to leave the domestic terminal of Shahjalal airport around 10:00 am, said CIID Director General Dr Shahidul Islam.
Later they recovered the gold bars worth Tk 70 lakh hidden in his rectum in a unique way, he said.
