1 girl student killed, 22 hurt in Sylhet road mishap

A student was killed and at least 23 other students of Sylhet Nurjahan Memorial Women’s College were injured when their bus plunged into road side ditch in the Lalabazar Satmail area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Rubi Begum, 18, student of intermediate first year and daughter of Pankhi Miah.
College Principal Nizam Uddin Tarafder said, among 25 students, 23 were injured.
They were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
The accident occurred when the driver of the bus lost control over the steering and plunged into road side ditch around 10 AM, leaving 23 injured. But, Rubi died at North East Hospital. Sylhet City Mayor Ariful Haque Chy, College founder Miftahul Hossain Sweet, Balagonj Upazila Chairman Abdal Miah, Local UP Chairman Khairul Afian Chy and Dakshinsurma Press Club President Jahangir Alam visited the injured students.
