At least 16,7239 poor and distressed families will get 1672.390 metric tonnes of rice under special Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme to celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festivity in Kishoreganj.
Deputy Commissioner Md Sarowar Morshed Chowhury told The New Nation that the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief allocated the rice for distribution to the poor and distressed families in 13 upazilas and 8 municipalities of Kishoreganj.
The Upazila Administrations with assistance of local public representatives and union level committees are preparing to distribute the rice to listed VGF card holder families said D.R.R.O Md. Mokaram Hossion.
Each of the selected beneficiary families will get 10kg VGF rice in all 108 unions under 13 upazilas and 8 pourashavas in the district. The distribution process will be completed before the Eid festivity.
Under the programme 167239 cards (1672.390 M.T rice) holder families in Sadar 20678 families, Kuliarchar- 10079 families, Karimganj 17069 families, Katiadi 17726 families, Bhairab- 12454 families, Nikli 8219 families, Hossainpur 11382 families, Bajitpur 14554 families, Austagram 10530 families, Itna 11735 families, Pakindia 13950 families, Tarail 10063 families and Mitamoin 8800 families.
