About 1,02,93,145 people in the country have come under the Covid-19 vaccination programme so far.
Among them, 1,01,14,934 people took AstraZeneca vaccine (Covishield), 1,62,513 people took China’s Sinopharm vaccine, and 15,698 people took Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) informed this in a press release on Sunday.
According to the press release, among the AstraZeneca vaccine recipients 63,52,739 are male and 37,61,839 are female. Besides, 42,94,911 people took second dose and 58,20,023 people took first dose.
Among the second dose vaccine recipients, 27,43,666 are male and 15,50,889 are female and among the first dose vaccine recipients – 36,09,073 are male and 22,10,950 are female.
Meanwhile, the vaccine roll-out of Sinopharm, a gift from China, has started on June 19. In the second phase, 1,62,513 people across the country took the first dose, among them, 84,642 are male and 77,871 are female.
The second phase of the vaccine campaign officially began on May 25 by giving the jab to Ananya Salam, a fifth-year student of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after the first consignment of Sinopharm arrived.
Besides, 15,698 people have been vaccinated with Pfizer-BioNtech under COVAX in 6 centers in Dhaka. Among them, 12,233 are male and 3,465 are female. The vaccine was applied experimentally on June 21. Then, from July 1, Pfizer’s first dose of mass vaccination began.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Covid-19 vaccination program on January 27. On that day, 21 people were vaccinated. After that, the nationwide mass vaccination program started on February 7.
