“˜Gunfight’ again: 2 Rohingyas killed

Two Rohingya drug smugglers were killed in a gunfight with BGB in the Gorjanbania area of Pillar No. 40 of Ghumdhum in Naikhongchari upazila of Bandarban.
Cox’s Bazar 34 BGB captain Lt. Colonel Ali Haider Azad Ahmed confirmed the information on Monday morning.
The deceased were identified – Mohammad Jubayer, son of Forkan Mahmud, a resident of D block of Kutupalong
 in Ukhiya and Dil Mohammad, son of Hamza Mia, a resident of B block of Lambasia camp.
Lt. Colonel Ali Haider Azad Ahmed said BGB increased surveillance at the border upon receiving information that some drug smugglers were entering the Gorjanbania area from Myanmar with large quantities of yaba on Monday morning. Later, when five drug smugglers entered the border, the BGB patrol team challenged them.
 “At that time, they fired randomly at the BGB. The BGB also fired back in self-defense. Three drug smugglers escaped at the time. Later, the bullet-hit the wounded body of two rescued from the spot and took to Ukhiya Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared them dead, he also said.
Lt. Colonel Ali Haider Azad Ahmed added that two BGB members were injured in the incident. One lakh yaba, two single-barreled guns and six cartridges were also recovered from the spot.
