Zakat incident in Baeisal One more injured dies at SBMCH, detained officials of Khan Sons released

The death toll of the stampeding happened during distribution of Zakat items by Khan Son’s group of industries at its Barisal office on Katpatty road area of the city on Friday morning increased to three on Saturday morning.
On Saturday morning Bakul Begum,40, wife of Jalal Mia from Rasulpur area of the city admitted at the hospital after injured by stampeding during Zakat distribution on Friday, succumbed to her injuries at about 9:00 AM Saturday, said Abul Kalam, ward master of Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Earlier Firoja Begum, 50, wife of Fazle Ali from Karnakathi of Sadar upazila and Nupur Begum, 35, wife of Mohon Mia from Rasulpur area of the city declared as dead on Friday morning after sent to SBMCH following the stampeding during Zakat distribution.
Still five females injured in the incident under treatment at female surgery ward of the hospital, said Dr. Qamrul Islam Selim, director of the hospital.
However Abu Saleh, manager finance, Shahnewaj Khan, godown in charge, Moajjem Hossain, security in charge, Rahat Khan, sales officer, Abdul Halim , messenger, Siraj and Liton, office peon, Abdul Qaium, driver, detained for interrogation after the tragic incident, were released on early Saturday.
The Khan Son’s officials and employees were released after interrogation as no case was lodged against them. The bodies of the dead victims also handed over to family members without autopsy on their request, said Shakhawat Hossain, Barisal Kotwali police station officer in charge. Mohon Mia, husband of one of the dead victim Nupur Begum, 35, from Rasulpur area of the city , said they did not lodged any case as it was fate of poor people, not the fault of the Zakat donors.
Barisal district administration and Khan Sons authorities extended financial helps for the dead and injured victims, the victims sources said.
