Youths urged to fight corruption

Speakers and participants of the day-long Active Citizens Regional Achievers’ Summit-2014 in Barisal on Tuesday urged youths to play positive role in fight against corruption and uphold good governance with human rights and justice in the country.
Thus youths could play vital roles of giving leadership and taking responsibilities for the positive changes of the society, they opined.
The programme styled as “Locally Engaged and Globally Connected” was organized by The Hunger Project-Bangladesh and Supported by The Hunger project and British Council at Barisal Ladies Club Auditorium.
A number of young people from different parts of Barisal actively participated in the event.
It showcased young people’s achievements and created opportunities for them to attend a number of themed seminars delivered by regional and national speakers, open discussions, visiting stalls of the exhibitions.
The inaugural session of the programme was presided over by Awlad Raqib, convener of the programme organizing committee.
Shohidul Alam, deputy commissioner, Dr.Badiul Alam Majumdar, country director and global vice president of The Hunger Project-Bangladesh, Toufiq Hasan, program manager- Society, British Council-Bangladesh, Tazila Hossain Mazumdar, development activists, Akkas Hossain, president district Shujan, Prof. M. Moazzem Hossain, addressed in this session of the day-long programme.
The afternoon session was conducted by Tanvir Kaisar, associate professor English department of Barisal University with Prof. Dr. Harunor Rashid Khan, vice chancellor Barisal University, ans chief guest, Prof Shah Sajeda , head of B M College Marketing department, Zakir Hossain, deputy director divisional information office, Ranjit Datta, development activists , as panel discussants.
The participants and the speakers called the youths to be more active in developments of themselves for the sake of the welfare of the country, nation and the world.
Society could progress and country could advance positively if the youths would be inclined with social development activities for playing positive role in building a happy and prosperous Bangladesh by taking oaths to fulfill the dreams of liberation war, they added.
