The Ekushey Boi Mela on Tuesday witnessed huge turn up of youths, and a very good sale of books in most of the stalls, said publishers.
The books on science fiction drew their attention. The students of schools, colleges and universities assembled there in a large number.
Nasir Uddin Ahmed Selim, Publisher of Kakoli Prokashani, told The New Nation that the demand for science fictions was high on Tuesday. The youths, mostly students, came to the Boi Mela and bought the books on science fiction. The youths searched the books of reputed science fictions. The sale of the books was satisfactory, Tariqul Islam said.
The sale of books was satisfactory, said the other publishers also.
“I feel happy to read the books of science fiction. I have read the world’s noted science fiction books. I have bought a book written by Muhammad Zafar Iqbal today,” said Khan Mohammad Nurul Haque Nur, a 3rd year student of DU Bijoy Ekattor Hall.
The both Bangla Academy premises and the Suhrawardy Udyan were steaming with visitors. Long queues changed the scenario and it took time for them to enter the Boi Mela Suhrawardy Uddyan premises. It was the busiest day for the publishers as huge number of people crowded in front of the each and every stall of the Boi Mela.
Meanwhile, ninety-three new books arrived and three cover of the books were unveiled on Tuesday on the 23rd day of the book fair.
The unveiled books are Somajbadol Unnyon O Rajniti of Towhidul Hoque published by Bird Publication, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib of Khan Shawkat published by Shikha Prokashani and Annihk Goti of Jakir Talukder published by Oitezzya.
A discussion titled `Mohammad Nasir Ali Janmoshatobarsiki’ was held at 4:00 pm in the main stage of Academy.
At 4:00 pm a discussion titled `Bangladesher Shikha Baboshter Prosher O Man Unnoyne Samoshya’ will be held today (Wednesday) in the stage of Academy. Professor Farzana Islam will preside over the function, while, Abul Momen will present the keynote. Kazi Faruque Ahmed, Monzur Ahmed and Shahinur Rahman will present the discussion.
A fascinating cultural program will be held at evening.
