Youth held with 8 gold bars in Jessore

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members arrested an alleged smuggler along with eight gold bars weighing 1.300 kg from Putkhali border in Sharsha upazila on Monday.
The arrestee was identified as Mohsin, son of Sirajul Islam of Gogakalijani village in the upazila.
Tipped off that a young man was taking a consignment of gold to the border area on a bicycle to smuggle out of the country, a BGB team launched a drive around 11am and arrested Mohsin along with the gold worth Tk 51.25 lakh from Battala BGB post area, said Horekrishna, Subedar of Putkhali camp of BGB-21 Khulna.
The seized gold was handed over to Benapole customs office, he said.
A case was filed against Mohsin with Benapole Port Police Station, Horekrishna added.
