Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman on Wednesday spent a busy day by inaugurating and visiting different development projects in Rajshahi city.
The Minister formally inaugurated the newly constructed building of the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS) in the compound of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital.
The building has been constructed at a cost of around TK 20 crore.
INMAS provides not only nuclear medicine service to the patients but also plays a vital role for human resource development in this field. This gives a new dimension to the endeavor to represent the institute as a “Centre of Excellence” in the field of nuclear medicine services in Bangladesh.
He also went round different sections of the building equipped with its machineries to see its activities. Rajshahi Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton accompanied the minister during his visit.
INMAS Director Prof Dr Mostofa Shamim Ahsan and Project Director Dr Jahangir Alam were present on the occasion.
The Minister also visited the under-construction building of Bangabandhu Novo Theatre which is being constructed at a cost of around TK 222.03 crore here.
Novo Theater Authority has been implementing the project aimed at wiping out different types of prejudices prevailing in the society.
The project has the provision of installing different types of equipment such as planetarium with digital projector system, scientific and digital exhibits, 58D simulation theatre and telescope for the theatre.
Earlier, the minister also visited the Rajshahi station of Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research saying technology is an essential need to increase industrial productivity.
Minister Yeafesh Osman called for the upgrading of modern technologies in the region’s manufacturing sector, emphasizing the importance of increasing productivity.
“All relevant public and private sectors must work together to achieve national goals in the field of increasing productivity and responding to the growing demand that results from population growth, as well as solving the problems caused by coronavirus.
He said present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister) Sheikh Hasina has taken timely measures to inspire entrepreneurs to produce qualified products to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic .
The Minister said present government has set a vision for 2021 and 2041, the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030″, and it has been working tirelessly to achieve these visions.
He urged the local entrepreneurs to complete the government’s actions by increasing the quality of the products.
