Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive on WEdnesday arrested two persons with Tk 7.50 crore worth of yaba pills, totalling 1.5 lakh pieces, that they concealed in two cylinders of liquified petroleum gas (LPG) in Bakalia area of Chattogram city. The arrestees are Mohammad Anis, 40, from Shariatpur and Kamal Howladar, 41, from Barishal, said Rab sources.
Rab-7 Media Wing Assistant Director (AD) Mimtanur Rahman said being informed, a team of Rab set up a check post near Ahad Convention Hall and found the yaba after searching a Dhaka-bound pickup truck loaded with LPG cylinders around 5:45am. Rab arrested the duo who, during primary interrogation, admitted that they were carrying the consignment of yaba in the truck from Cox’s Bazar to Dhaka, AD Mimtanur said, adding that they searched 28 gas cylinders before finding the two cylinders filled with Tk 7.50 crore worth of drugs.
The arrestees were handed over to Bakalia Police Station.
