A Chittagong court on Tuesday sentenced a man to six-year rigorous imprisonment in a drug peddling case of 2016.
It also fined Jalal Ahmed, 57, of Moheskhali upazila of Cox’s Bazar, Tk 5,000, in default of which he would have to suffer one more month in jail, said Public Prosecutor (PP) Md Fakhruddin Chowdhury.
Official of the Department of Narcotics Control arrested Jalal with 2,000 Yaba pills in the port city’s Shah Amanat Bridge area under Bakalia Police Station on July 17, 2016. Jalal went into hiding after securing bail in the case, said the PP.
