Workshop on ‘Draft Self-assessment Survey’ at DhIU

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Dhaka International University (DhIU) organized a workshop titled “Draft Self-Assessment Survey Report” on Monday at the university’s Dr MI Patwari Auditorium at green road. Dr SQ Patwari, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), DhIU was as guest of honor while Prof Dr Sanjoy Kumar Adhikary, Quality Specialist of Quality Assurance Unit (QAU), UGC was the resource persons at the workshop.
Assoc Prof Dr Serajul Islam Prodhan, QA Expert and Director, IQAC chaired the programme and emceed by Asst. Prof RaisuL Islam Sourav, QA Specialist and Additional Director, IQAC. Among others, Prof Dr Mainul Islam, Treasurer; Prof Dr Shawkat Ara Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social; Sciences; Prof Dr Mahbubur Rahman Sharkar, Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering; Dr Nazmin Afroz, Research Officer, QAU, UGC; Faculty members and IQAC officials were present in the workshop.
Departments of Business Administration, EETE, Pharmacy and Sociology are going under the Self-Assessment (SA) process this year. At this time Prof Md. Rofiqul Islam, Head, Self-Assessment Committee (SAC) at Dept. of Business Administration; Assoc Prof Md. Abdul Based, Head, SAC, Dept. of EETE; Amir Hossain, Dept of Pharmacy and Assoc Prof Tahmina Khan, Hean, SAC, Dept. of Sociology and other members of SAC of these four departments were presenting key points of their draft SA survey report and discussed about the contents and their improvement with the experts.
Prof Dr Sanjoy Kumar Adhikary analyzed and criticized different entity’s draft SA survey reports. Finally he advised heads and members of SAC to enrich their reports by including explanation of reasons, references, number of survey population etc.
Dr SQ Patwari mentioned that the BoT is very much concerned about ensuring quality at every level of the university. The departmental self-assessment activities under IQAC have been considered as prime concern at this moment at DIU, he added.
DhIU is the first ever university among the second phase universities under HEQEP which had successfully finished the external peer review of three departments in June 2016. Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) has been established at DhIU under the auspices of Higher Education Quality Enhancement project (HEQP) financed by the Ministry of Education, Bangladesh and the World Bank and implemented by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh. The workshop and training is a continuation of this process.
