More than fifty percent works of the Karnaphuli Water Supply Project-2 of Chattogram WASA at Rangunia in North Chattogram already completed and rest of the work will be completed before the project timeframe.
Deputy Project Director and Superintending Engineer of CWASA Masud Alam recently revealed the information of work progress of the project to the media persons. Speaking on the work progress of the project, he said, ’50 percent work of the Karnaphuli Water Supply Project-2 has been completed and we’re hopeful that we will be able to completed project before expected time scheduled on January, 2022.’
The whole project is divided into six packages due to complete the work within scheduled time of the project. The work of Package-4 and Package-5 already done and the rest of the work of the project progressed at a fast pace, added he. Under the packages, Package-1 includes Rangunia intake and treatment plant, reservoir in Nasirabad, elevated tank in Halishahar.
Around 50 percent work of intake and treatment plant, 90 percent of Nasirabad reservoir and 75 percent of elevated tank in Halishahar has already been done. The overall work progress is 65 percent.
The transmission of pipeline, optical cable and surge tank will be constructed under Package-2. The work of pipeline set up in 3.5km and transmission pipe installation in 31 km already completed. Work of optical cable set up is under progress. By the way, 97 percent work of the package-2 is done, he said.
Construction Company has already started supplying 50000 water meters after getting the work order. They will supply the meters in three steps. And the work progress is 100 percent. Leak detection equipment will be purchased under Package-5 and the 100 percent of the work have completed.
On August 13, 2013, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) approved the Karnaphuli Water Supply Project-2 of Chattogram WASA to facilitate water supply to the dwellers of the port city. Under this project, Chattogram WASA will be able to supply 14cr litter water daily.
