Art & Culture Report :
A three-day photography exhibition titled ‘Words in Silence’ is being held at Drik Gallery in the city’s Dhanmondi area now. The exhibition was inaugurated on February 6.
To pay tribute to Faisal Kabir Raktim, a young talented photographer who died only 23, Rajshahi Photographic Society (RPS) organised the exhibition.
While talking with one of the organisers of RPS, Tanvir said, “At a high time of living and rising, Raktim passed away with so many possibilities left behind. But we still have his creative works with his adorable smile and us in our memories. He was the publication and exhibition secretary of RPS. He got national award for his photography. This exhibition is a tribute to him from all the members of RPS and it has a special section on his photography as well.”
During the 90’s when photography movements were spreading throughout rest of the country, members of RPS became active part of this effort as well.
RPS has been successful in helping many to become professional photographers since 1984.
Among them many are now noted photojournalists and others went succeeding into the business of studio photography in our city. This proves success of RPS in the history of photography in Bangladesh.
The exhibition will end tomorrow. n
