A man reportedly tied his wife with a tree and tortured her for dowry at Dahakula village in Satkhira Sadar upazila on Friday morning.
The victim has been identified as Anwara Khatun, wife of one Kabid.
Police detained him and his elder brother Habid in connection with the incident, Police said.
Quoting locals, Brahmarazpur Police Outpost Sub-Inspector (SI) Achintya Kumar said, Kabid used to torture his wife Anwara for various reasons including dowry since their marriage. On Friday morning, the couple locked into a quarrel over the same issues. At one stage, Habid and Kabid scolded Anwara.

Local Union Parishad member Kamrul Islam said, hearing scream, I with the help of other neighbours rescued the victim and took her to Satkhira Sadar Hospital.
