Rapid Action Battalion on Sunday arrested a man accused in a case filed for raping his sister-in-law for three months in Gazipur.
The accused has been identified as Ali Akbar, 35, son of late Joynal Abedin from Mukkhapur village of Mymensing’s Trishal upazila, confirmed Lt Col Abdullah Al Mamun, in-charge of RAB 1 Gazipur Porabari camp.
Ali, while working at a garment factory, promised a job to his sister-in-law [aged about 20 years] and brought her to a rented home in Kodda Khoarpara in Gazipur.
He initially proposed her for marriage, but had been raping her for the past three months upon being denied and threatened to kill her, said Lt Col Abdullah.
“RAB arrested Ali after the victim filed a written complaint to RAB in this regard out of desperation,” Abdullah added.
“Ali confessed to his crimes. The victim filed a case as at Bason police station under Gazipur Metropolitan Police on Sunday afternoon,” the RAB officer furthered.
