A woman was killed in an attack by a wild elephant in Lama Upazila of the district on Saturday midnight.
The decease was identified as Sakera Begum Pakhi,45, a resident of Paglir Aga, a remote area under Fasiakhali union.
Pakhi’s husband was killed in a similar attack by wild elephants 12 years ago.
Quoting local people, police said a wild elephant trampled Pakhi when she came out of her house responding to the call of nature. Police recovered the body on Sunday morning.
