Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon said, the utility services should be decentralized as done in the case
of Dhaka city corporations.
“To render better service to the people, the Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA), Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) and the Titas Gas authorities should be decentralised like city corporations,” Mayor Sayeed Khokon said in a view exchange meeting in the Nagarbhaban on Monday.
The mayor pointed to the manpower crisis of his corporation.
“We are working with 40 percent of our designated manpower. We have lost speed due to our insufficient manpower,” the mayor said.

In reply, the councilor said their tenure is one year only. The mayor replied with laughing, “Who told you that your tenure will expire within a year? You are councilors for next five years term, InshaAllah!”
The mayor said that the newly added 18 wards will be modernized.
“It needs time to modernize the newly adopted wards with all facilities. But we shall work to develop the areas,” the mayor said.
