Jatiya Oikyafront convener Dr Kamal Hossain on Friday urged the voters to exercise their franchise for freeing democracy from the hands of the autocrats on December 30.
“Vote for democracy. Vote to take back ownership of the country… safeguard our independence,” read a statement on Friday.
He expressed hope that voters will “be courageous” and flock to voting centres on the election day “ignoring all intimidation and threats”.
“People, specially voters, are the Oikyafront’s vanguard right now,” he said. “The voters never forgot to take a bold and right decision. They will also make no mistake this time also.”
Citing that the law enforcers lunched special drive from last night to arrest their leaders and activists, Dr Kamal said, it will not stop Oikyafront’s journey for democracy.
Kamal also expected that the military forces deployed across the country will create safe atmosphere for voters on the voting day.
The statement of Dr Kamal was read out by Oikyafront leader Jaglul Haider Afrik at a press conference it its central office in the city.
