bdnews24.com :High Court has deferred giving its verdict on the writ petition by the wife of ‘missing’ BNP Joint Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed to find the whereabouts of her husband.Although the court was set to give its verdict on Wednesday, it was postponed until Monday since the lawyers of the petitioner asked for more time.Justices Quamrul Islam Siddique and Gobinda Chandra Tagore on April 9 had scheduled the ruling for Wednesday after hearing the plea.Pro-BNP lawyer Khandaker Mahdub Hossain, who is representing Hasina Ahmed, said they asked for more time as they wanted to present more evidences and information at court.Hasina alleged that Salahuddin was taken away by plainclothesman from his Uttara residence on the night of March 10.He called to tell her about it before he disappeared, she alleged , adding that Uttara and Gulshan police refused her when she tried to file a general diary. The court issued a ruling on March 2 asking the government to explain within March 15 why High Court would not issue an order to find the BNP leader and present him at court. On March 15, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam presented five reports by police and two police records at the court. He also submitted authenticated versions in court after the petitioner’s lawyers asked for copies. Police claimed an individual named ‘Raihan’ had left after staying in the house from where Salauddin was allegedly detained.Reports by various law enforcement agencies said police or security forces did not detain or arrested the BNP leader. They also could not find his whereabouts. Salahuddin’s wife has also twice given memorandums addressed to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and sought to meet her.
