A vegetable trader was found dead at Lasomara Haor in Hazrai of Dakkhin Surma upazila on Thursday.The deceased was identified as Abdul Ali, 28, son of late Ahmed Ali of Batarmul village in the upazila.
Quoting locals, police said Abdul Ali had gone out of the house on Wednesday afternoon for selling red spinach and since then he remained missing.
Later, local people spotted the body of Abdul Ali in the Haor and informed police who recovered it around 1.00 pm on Thursday and sent it to Osmani Medical College Hospital.
The body bore injury marks on his head, said police.Police suspected that miscreants might have hit him with a heavy thing and dumped the body there.
The motive behind the killing could not be known immediately.
