Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate of Dhaka West registered 15 per cent growth in VAT collection in February this fiscal.
In this month, Taka 208 crore collected as VAT which was Taka 181 crore in the previous fiscal.
Talking to BSS, Commissioner of Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate of Dhaka West Dr Moinul Khan on Thursday said VAT collection recorded this fiscal much higher compared to any other time in the past.
“Enforcement activities, strengthening of audit, scrutinizing of income tax return submission, communication with trade bodies and other initiatives have pushed the collection growth up,” he noted.
Besides, the first seven months (July-January) of this fiscal witnessed 9 per cent growth in VAT collection, Khan added.
