The Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited Victory Day Volleyball competition will begin today (Thursday) at volleyball stadium in the city with two matches are billed for the opening day, said a Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (BVF) press release.
Bangladesh Awami League Youth and Sports Affairs Secretary Harunur Rashid is expected to inaugurate the meet as the chief guest while Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited deputy managing director Abdul Aziz will also present as special guest.
In the day’s opening fixture, Bangladesh Army will take on Border Guard Bangladesh at 2.30 pm while Bangladesh Power Development Board will face Bangladesh Police at 4 pm.
Nine teams — Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Ansar, Bangladesh Power Development Board, Titas Club and Fire Service and Civil Defence team — will take part in the weeklong meet, sponsored by Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited and organised by BVF.
