In the second phase of the election, four Awami League candidates, two Awami League rebels and one independent BNP candidate triumphed in he local election held in seven Union Parishads under Sadar Upazila. The winners are Mohammad Tofazzal Hossain Sarkar, the incumbent Chairman of Awami League in Chhatni Union, Omar Ali Pradhan, the incumbent Chairman of Awami League in Tebaria, Kazi Shariful Islam Bidyut of Awami League in Dighapatiya and Osman Gani Bhuiyan, the incumbent chairman of Awami League in Bara Harishpur. Md. Shafiqul Islam Shafiq, son of former chairman of Awami League rebel independent chairman candidate in Halsa, Nuruzzaman Kalu, rebel former chairman of Awami League in Kholabaria Laxmipur, Abul Kalam Azad, independent candidate of BNP in Kafuria. Natore Sadar Upazila Election Officer Saiful Islam confirmed the results.
Also, Awami League nominees won in three of the five unions and Awami League rebel candidates won in two unions of Baraigram Upazila. Upazila Election Officer and Returning Officer Hasib bin Shahab announced the results at around 11pm on Thursday night in auditorium of Upazila Nirbahi Officer.
Awami League candidate in Baraigram Sadar Union, Momin Ali (Boat) won the post of chairman for the third time in a row with 12,628 votes. His nearest rival SM Masud Rana Mannan (Horse) got 10,536 votes.
In Zonal Union, rebel candidate Abul Kalam Azad (Horse) won with 11,443 votes. His rival, current chairman Tozammel Haque (Boat) received 8,654 votes. Rebel candidate Mostafa Shamsuzzoha (Horse) won in the Nagar Union capturing 14,010 votes. His nearest rival Awami League nominee Nilufar Yasmin Dalu (Boat) got 9,557 votes.
In Chandai Union, the winner was Awami League nominated candidate Bir Muktijoddah Ataur Rahman Jinna’s wife Shahnaz Parveen, who got 8,197 votes. Her nearest rival Anisur Rahman got 5,385 votes. In Gopalpur Union, Awami League nominated candidate Bir Muktijoddah Abu Bakar Siddique won with 8,991 votes. His closest rival, Abdus Salam Khan, received 6,691 votes.
